Katerina Koutsogianni was born in Heraklion, Crete, where she lives. In 2003, in collaboration with other patients with rheumatic diseases, she founded the Association of Rheumatic Patients of Crete, in which she is President. She is actively involved in the field of rheumatic disease patient organisations both in Greece and abroad, enriching her experience by participating in international conferences and seminars. At the same time, she has contributed to the development of the organisation’s activities aimed at raising awareness of the seriousness of rheumatic diseases, and at advocating decent care and patients’ access to all modern treatments. As a result of efforts to unify the expression of rheumatic patients in Greece, the Federation of Associations of Patients, Parents, Guardians and Friends of Children with Rheumatic Diseases “Reymazin” was founded, where she served as President until September 2025. In November 2018, she graduated from the European Patients’ Academy on Therapeutic Innovation (EUPATI).
